Scientists at CTG's Yangtze River Biological Diversity Research Center have successfully artificially cultivated spores of the ancient rare fern species Cyathea spinulosa. Dating back 400 million years, the species is considered a "living fossil". The plants can grow up to 1.5 meters tall, with short but sturdy rhizomes around 10-15 centimeters thick. Its wild populations are classified as Vulnerable on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (@IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species. The achievement contributes to plant biology research and genetic advancements.
